Bensenville Park District adds to exciting summer dance lineup

Bensenville, Ill.— The Bensenville Park District has added nine new programs to its dynamic summer dance lineup. With a diverse range of new offerings, including Tippity Tap, Tap 1, Ballet Basics I & II, Hippity Hop Basics 1 and 2, Dancing in the Parks and Line Dancing, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“We are delighted to offer such a diverse range of dance classes as well as Summer Intensives for flexibility, strength and technique,” says Cultural Arts Supervisor Faith Hollander. “Our goal is to provide a vibrant and inclusive dance program that caters to dancers of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned dancer, there’s an exciting class waiting for you.”

Summer Intensives are designed for dancers aged 4 to 11 looking to further develop their skills and immerse themselves in a focused learning environment. Led by experienced instructors, these intensives provide a deep dive into specific skills and execution with a focus on flexibility, strength and technique. Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their technique, expand their repertoire, and refine their performance abilities.

The Tippity Tap class offers a lively introduction to the art of tap dancing for 4-and-5-year-olds. Students will learn fundamental tap steps, rhythms, and combinations while developing coordination and musicality. Tap 1 is a progression from Tippity Tap, where dancers aged 6 to 9 continue to build their skills and explore more intricate rhythms and choreography.

For those interested in ballet, the Ballet Basics I & II classes—for ages 6-9 and 7-11, respectively—provide a solid foundation in classical ballet technique. Students will learn proper body alignment, terminology, basic steps, and elegant movements. Ballet Basics II is a continuation of Ballet Basics I, allowing dancers to further refine their technique and expand their ballet vocabulary.

Young dancers can join the Hippity Hop Basics 1 (ages 6-9) and 2 (ages 7-11) classes, where they will discover the energetic world of hip hop dance. These classes focus on rhythm, coordination, and grooves while introducing basic hip hop moves and choreography in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

Dancing in the Parks offers outdoor dance classes at Sunset Park, complete with dance games, props and fun songs to enjoy in the sunshine. Two age groups are offered: 3-5 and 6-9.

Line Dancing class participants will learn popular line dances and country-western-inspired moves in a welcoming environment. No partner is required, making it an ideal class for individuals 18 and older looking to socialize and have fun.

Registration fees for all summer dance classes are $60 ($45 for those in park district boundaries). Check the park district’s summer program guide for class times and start dates. The guide is located on the Bensenville Park District website, BvilleParks.org, or view a copy and register at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street.
