Explore off-the-rails history at Bensenville Railroad Museum open houses

Bensenville, Ill.— The Bensenville Park District announced a series of Bensenville Railroad Museum open houses, inviting the public to step back in time and experience the allure of a bygone era. Held at Veterans Park, located at the crossroads of Church Road and Main Street in Bensenville, these engaging events will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18 and December 16.

“The open houses offer a captivating opportunity for attendees of all ages to immerse themselves in the world of locomotives,” says Fischer Farm Manager Christine Shiel, who oversees the museum. “Amidst the backdrop of Veterans Park, just south of the railroad tracks, visitors can explore a restored 1920s era locomotive, a true testament to the rich history our community’s railroads.”

Each session presents a chance to partake in new crafts and activities, promising an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone.

Admission to the Bensenville Railroad Museum is completely free, aligning with the park district’s commitment to making history and cultural exploration accessible to all. Families, individuals and groups may join in taking in the nostalgia and camaraderie fostered by the open houses.
