Park district announces open mic night schedule changes

Bensenville, Ill.— The Bensenville Park District announced the cancellation of its remaining summer open mic night schedule at 5 p.m. Fridays, July 14 and August 18, due recent changes in staffing. The events listed in the Fall 2023 Program Guide are not affected.

Open mic night allows community members to convene in the Oak Room at the Deer Grove Leisure Center and perform in a welcoming space. Open mic night is tailored for talented individuals aged 16 and older, creating a space where budding artists can unleash their creative prowess. Community members are invited to step into the spotlight and captivate the audience with their extraordinary talents, be it singing, stand-up comedy, poetry or any form of expressive artistry.

“With an electric atmosphere and a supportive community, open mic nights provide an invaluable platform for performers to shine, connect and inspire one another, fostering a sense of camaraderie and artistic growth,” says Breana Aponte, recreation supervisor. “We look forward to continuing this program in fall.”

Two open mic nights are scheduled for fall. Prospective participants are invited to join the fun from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, October 13 and December 15, in the DGLC’s Oak Room. The DGLC is located at 1000 W. Wood St. in Bensenville. The fee is just $5 at the door and includes refreshments.
