Boot camp starts December 20; cheerleading sessions start January, February
Bensenville, Ill.— The winter sports season is only a few weeks away, and now is the time to get ready to cheer on those teams. The Bensenville Park District offers a cheer boot camp for children ages 5-14 that teaches them cheers and routines to be performed at park district basketball games during the winter months.
Cheer boot camp takes place 2-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from December 20 to January 5, and the registration deadline to register is Thursday, December 15.
The park district’s in-house cheerleading program teaches basic cheers, stunts and tumbling. The program is not competitive, but it provides an environment where new and experienced cheerleaders can be challenged, gain confidence and flourish. Cheerleading is offered for 4-to-6-year-olds, those ages 7 to 9 and those from 10 to 14 years of age. The first session runs Saturdays from January 7 to February 4, and the second session runs February 18 to March 18. Registration deadlines are a week prior to the start of each session.
Program fees are $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents each session. To register, call the Bensenville Park District at 630-766-7015 or visit the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
