Bensenville, Ill.— The Bensenville Park District is excited to announce its upcoming Young at Heart Shipshewana Christmas trip, an enchanting holiday adventure to northern Indiana’s Amish country Monday-Wednesday, December 11-13. This trip promises seniors a joyous and heartwarming experience filled with festive traditions, delicious food and cherished memories.
“Set against the backdrop of the holiday season, this magical journey offers participants the opportunity to explore the charm of northern Indiana’s Amish country,” says Program Coordinator-Senior Services Trent Grossman, CPRP. “From delightful Christmas shopping excursions to visiting beloved local treasures like Rise N Roll Bakery and Yoder Meat and Cheeses, this trip is designed to bring joy and cheer to all who embark on it.”
The trip’s highlights include:
- Play with Dinner at the Blue Gate Theatre: Enjoy a captivating theatrical performance paired with a scrumptious dinner, creating a perfect evening of entertainment and culinary delights.
- Pretzel Making and Truffle Tasting: Get hands-on with a pretzel-making experience and indulge in delectable truffle tastings that will satisfy the sweetest sweet tooth.
- Visit to Linton’s Enchanted Gardens Holiday Village: Explore the enchanting world of Linton’s Holiday Village, a whimsical destination sure to ignite the holiday spirit in those who attend.
- “Lights of Joy” Display: Get immersed in the breathtaking “Lights of Joy” display, featuring more than 2 million LED lights and specialty displays stretching over a mile and a half.
“Experience the symphony of colorful light scenes that will leave you in awe,” Grossman continues. “This heartwarming trip enables active adults to discover the unique and cherished holiday traditions of northern Indiana’s Amish country. It’s an opportunity to create lasting memories, connect with fellow travelers and embrace the spirit of the season.”
To participate in this memorable journey, interested individuals are encouraged to register by October 27 at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, located at 1000 W. Wood Street, Bensenville. The trip fee is $747 for a single occupancy room or $613 for double occupancy. A deposit of $150 is due at the time of registration, securing a spot on this extraordinary adventure.
