Bensenville, Ill.— As Thanksgiving approaches, there’s no better time to brush up or learn new pie-making sills. The Bensenville Park District is inviting young aspiring bakers aged 6 and above to its “Pie Making Workshop,” a delicious event that offers a delightful blend of fun and learning. The workshop is scheduled from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, November 17, at the historic Fischer Farm, located at 16W680 Old Grand Avenue in Bensenville.

“The ‘Pie Making Workshop’ promises to be a fun-filled afternoon of culinary exploration, where kids can discover the joy of making a pie from scratch while going back in time to the flavorful 1920s,” says Fischer Farm Manager Christine Shiel. “It’s a unique opportunity to blend history, creativity and, of course, the sweetness of homemade pie. Don’t miss out on this delicious adventure!”

The “Pie Making Workshop” isn’t just about crafting delectable desserts; it’s a step back in time to explore what baking was like in the 1920s. Participants will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culinary techniques and traditions of this bygone era. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, they will learn the art of pie assembly, gaining valuable insights into the ingredients and methods used in the 1920s kitchens.

“Each young chef will have the chance to create their very own pie, which they can take home and bake to perfection,” Shiel continues. “It’s not just a pie; it’s a slice of history, served fresh from the oven.”

The Pie Making Workshop is a part of the Food Fridays series, an engaging culinary journey that delves into the food culture of different eras. The series will conclude with “Bread and Butter” on December 15, offering another exciting opportunity for young food enthusiasts to explore the culinary world.
