Fitness Dayz rescheduled to three August dates

Wet conditions and lightning in area forced postponement

Bensenville, Ill.— Free Bensenville Park District Fitness Dayz group fitness classes have been rescheduled due to weather for three separate Saturday mornings—August 6, 13 and 20. The event is part of the district’s Park ‘n Play initiative, which brings activities and events to neighborhood parks.

“Unfortunately, the wet weather and thunderstorm threats in the area forced the postponement of the event,” explains Fitness Supervisor Silvia Acevedo. “With the new format, we’ve separated the activities out so participants can try all three classes for free, and we’ve also identified alternate locations to conduct the activities in the event of bad weather.”

Those interested in circuit training can join Traci at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at Varble Park. The training previews the new SH1FT-L1FT class scheduled this fall. Be prepared to do circuits of strength, mobility, balance, core, speed and agility as well as resistance training for a full body workout. The program is inclusive to all fitness levels, allowing participants to work out at their own pace. Modifications can be made for every circuit. Participants can burn calories long after their workout due to the excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) effect. All necessary fitness equipment will be provided; just bring water. The alternate location in case of inclement weather will be the Exercise Room at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street.

Zumba® with Silvia begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 13, at Pines Park and welcomes all fitness levels, from beginners to experienced Zumba lovers, with modifications available. Everyone is going to have a great workout and a great time dancing at their own level of intensity and impact. For safety, class will be held in the park’s parking lot, so please wear appropriate workout shoes (ie. no crocs, flip-flops or sandals) and bring water. The alternate location in case of inclement weather will be the Exercise Room at the Deer Grove Leisure Center.

At 10:15 a.m. Saturday, August 20, enjoy Vinyasa yoga with Jenny at Fischer Farm surrounded by a wooded forest preserve. Mats will be provided, but participants are free to bring their own. Participants are also encouraged to bring water. This class welcomes all levels of yoga experience, whether trying yoga for the first time or an experienced yoga student. Practicing yoga at one’s own level surrounded by nature will sure start the weekend in the right mindset. The alternate location is inside the Granary Barn at Fischer Farm.

Those wishing to continue with these group fitness classes and more through Wood Street Fitness may register at the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street, Bensenville. Fitness Center annual memberships are as low as $153 for residents or $15 per month. The center also offers a Core Class Pass allowing unlimited access to all in-person and virtual fitness classes for a monthly fee of $35 for residents ($40 non-residents) or $300 ($360 non-residents) annually.
