The Bensenville Park District will commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month with a celebration that includes a Kermes in partnership with Fenton High School at White Pines Golf Club from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 7, combining a cultural experience with a charitable opportunity for the community.
The Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the Pavilion at White Pines Golf Club, 500 W. Jefferson St. in Bensenville, promises an immersive cultural celebration. The event will include a Kermes with authentic Mexican food, music and dancing. A tamale take-out sale will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the entrance to the Pavilion as part of the Kermes. Proceeds from the Kermes will directly benefit Fenton High School students.

There will be 10 food vendors selling food in addition to Mexican milkshakes. Beverages will also be available for purchase through White Pines Golf Club. All revenue from food sales and Mexican milkshakes will benefit Fenton High School. The food and drink menu is as follows:
The Bensenville Park District invites high school students within district boundaries to showcase their creativity and celebrate Hispanic heritage by participating in the Bensenville Hispanic Heritage Month Poster Contest. The contest encourages participants to design posters that capture the essence of Hispanic culture in a way that holds personal significance. Posters are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 29, and can be submitted in either physical or digital format.
Contest entries must adhere to the dimensions of 11” wide by 14” high and should include the participant’s full name, high school, and grade. Physical posters can be submitted at the front desk of the Deer Grove Leisure Center, located at 1000 W. Wood Street, Bensenville. Alternatively, digital entries can be emailed to SAcevedo@BvilleParks.org.
First, second and third-place winners will be recognized for their exceptional poster designs, capturing the vibrant spirit of Hispanic heritage with prizes worth approximately $300. Prizes include gift cards for art supplies valued at $100, $75 and $50 for the top three finishers. The winning artwork will be utilized in promoting the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
The winners of the Bensenville Hispanic Heritage Month Poster Contest will be announced during the Bensenville Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.
