Bensenville, Ill.—The Bensenville Park District is expanding its acting program with the addition of two new classes: Audition Prep and Character Study. These classes will complement the existing Intro to Acting and Acting 101 courses, providing participants with a comprehensive acting education.
The Audition Prep class is designed to help aspiring actors aged 11-16 to refine their audition skills and increase their chances of landing coveted roles. Participants will learn techniques for selecting and preparing monologues, building confidence, and making strong impressions during auditions.
The Character Study class for 11-to-16-year-olds will delve deeper into the art of character development. Students will explore various methods to understand and portray complex characters effectively. Through scene work, improvisation, and analysis of dramatic texts, participants will gain a deeper understanding of character motivations, emotions, and physicality. This class is perfect for individuals looking to enhance their acting range and take their performances to the next level.
“These new classes are a testament to our commitment to providing quality acting education to our community,” says Faith Hollander, cultural arts supervisor. “We are thrilled to expand our program and offer participants the opportunity to refine their audition techniques and delve into the intricate world of character study.”
