Park District Resumes Programs, Expands Hours

The Bensenville Park District announced resumption of several programs at the Deer Grove Leisure Center (DGLC) as well as expansion of hours for its Wood St. Fitness Center, 1000 W. Wood Street, Bensenville. Masks and social distancing practices are required in the facility.

Beginning Monday, January 31, Wood St. Fitness will operate with expanded hours, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are required for specific workout times and fitness classes. Visit the Wood Street Fitness website for specific details and to make a reservation. The fitness center remains closed on Saturdays.

Several amenities at the DGLC are operating differently than normal. The walking track is open until 3 p.m. on Fridays, when it closes until Sunday each week to accommodate another program. The track is scheduled to reopen Friday evenings and Saturdays beginning in March. Open gym remains on hiatus until further notice.

The park district’s Young at Heart programs resume normal schedules in February, including the popular Birthday Bingo and Lunch Bunch activities. Cards and trips are continuing to run as scheduled. Information about Young at Heart programs and activities can be found online.

The park district’s registration hours have returned to normal as well. In-person registration can be completed at the DGLC Monday through Saturday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Drop-off registrations can be done at any time the facility is open.

The DGLC reopened for limited activities Saturday, January 15, after a brief COVID-related shutdown. The facility had been closed to all programs and activities with the exception of registration since December 30.

Status updates regarding park district facilities and programs will be posted to the park district website, bvilleparks.org. Park district patrons can stay up to date with closures of programs, parks and facilities and get notified of class cancelations by signing up for text messages and email alerts or by downloading the “Rainout Line” app. Information about this service may be found on the park district website.
