Park district to run monthly “Story Time Yoga” for children

Bensenville, Ill.— The Bensenville Park District’s monthly “Story Time Yoga,” a captivating program designed to engage children ages 4-10 in the exciting combination of storytelling and yoga, begins in June. This unique experience will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Mondays, June 5, July 3, and August 7, in the Dance Room of the Deer Grove Leisure Center, located at 1000 W. Wood St.

“Story Time Yoga” provides a vibrant and interactive environment where children can explore the magical world of storytelling while engaging in physical movement and yoga poses. Led by experienced instructors, each session will feature a different theme that sparks the imagination and encourages children to embrace their creativity.

The June sessions will focus on the enchanting theme of “Yoga and Animals.” Children will embark on an imaginative journey, combining animal-inspired yoga poses with a captivating story that incorporates movement and mindfulness.

In July, the theme will revolve around a thrilling “Camping Adventure.” Children will delve into an exciting narrative that combines camping elements with yoga poses, fostering a sense of adventure and exploration.

August will continue the animal theme, inviting children to join in on “More Animals” for an engaging and educational experience. Through stories and yoga poses, children will learn about different animals and their characteristics while nurturing their physical and mental well-being.

“The Story Time Yoga program is designed to engage children in a unique and interactive way while helping to prevent the ‘summer slide,’” says Bensenville Park District Fitness Supervisor Silvia Acevedo. “We believe in the power of storytelling and movement to enhance children’s creativity, focus and overall well-being. This program is an opportunity for children to explore their imaginations, build strength and develop a love for both reading and yoga.”

Spaces for “Story Time Yoga” are limited, and early registration is recommended to secure a spot. The fees are $8 per session, with a discounted rate of $7 for residents living within park district boundaries. Participants are advised to come dressed comfortably, ready to move and explore. Yoga mats will be provided for use during the session.
